Content List:
- Name of my magazine - Fitness Frenzy (FF)
- Genre of magazine- Fitness/lifestyle
- Cover - Masthead, Cover lines, Model image ,Tag-lines, Bar code, Price, Date
- Target Audience- Both sexes- between the ages of 18-30 (ABC1)
The style of magazine cover I am creating needs to relate to my target audience which is males and females, to achieve this I will need to use more gender fluent colours (yellow, light blue, purple and maybe grey). The masthead needs to be san-serif so it is easy for the consumer to read and doesn't look to intimidating like the Muscle & Fitness magazine I've took inspiration from. The main image will be in the centre of the page this is because I want it to be the first thing the reader sees. The main image needs to be a photo of a man or woman

Logo:
Coverline Ideas:
This takes 3 cover lines and merges them into one, this would be good for my design and would make it look quite interesting but would take up too much room.
This tagline talks about drugs, which is a good idea but is not really the style I intend my magazine to be about.
This tagline explore things outside of fitness and it relates to an older audience because hangovers are a big problem for drinkers
This one is great because it is about fitness but it is what everyone strives to get so it will relate really well with my audience.
My Cover Line Designs:

Trial Front Page Layouts:
4th Feb 2019
I started my cover with a simple logo and a basic alliterative title,
I used a black font so it contrasted with the white background.I wanted to keep my initial design as simple as possible so I can brainstorm where I wanted things to go and if I had a complex first design it would've made it difficult to piece things together. 11th Feb 2019
Then I simply brainstormed ideas for cover-lines, I chose to talk about an interview for the first tagline because it would draw the audience in more because the interview may be with somebody they idolise. I chose my celebrity to be English rugby sensation James Haskell. Haskell was a good choice because he has a lot to do with fitness, he helps run a channel called Rule 'Em Sports which is all about sports and fitness.
I chose the cover-line 'Fit Body, Strong Mind!' because I felt like the audience would see the cover-line and feel really inspired to buy the magazines and hopefully be inspired to learn how to get a fit body and a strong mind.
I chose the phrase 'Lean mean and living the dream!' because it is a play on words to the George Forman Grill advertisement slogan 'Lean Mean Grilling Machine' I thought if the audience see this they might relate to it and might even chuckle at it.
I then added a filler photo to see how the magazine would look with the main imagine put on it, I then changed around some of the positions of the cover-lines and added small lines to add effect and separate the cover-lines. I then added a blue banner that goes across the magazine which says 'Challenge Yourself in 2019!' and 'Find out how much you know about your body!' I put this here to hook the attention of the reader, this would hopefully convince them to buy the magazine because they would want to find out how much they actually know about their bodies.
I also added a date above the title which says 'February Edition' this is so the reader knows that it is the latest issue of the magazine.
1st April 2019
I finally got my photos done for my magazine after months of waiting and timetable issues, I tried to replicate my filler photo in a way because i really liked how it looked on my magazine.
I also added a price to the magazine which is £3.00 this is typically the price of a health magazine and links into my ABC1 target audience.
I also went back and fixed all my spelling mistakes for example 'Febuary' to 'February' and 'Eazy' to 'Easy'.
Photoshoot:
I started of taking photos of gym equipment because I got tired of waiting for my models to be ready for a photoshoot, I hated the photo with the dumbbell because it didn't fit in with the style of the magazine.
Photoshoot Pt2:
Final Magazine Front Cover:
Double Page Spread:
Article content;
The content I have chosen for my DPS is an informative guide on different stretches you can do before a workout, this would appeal to my target audience which is men and women because everybody can do stretches and everybody would feel impacted by it. My article consists of 3 stretches with 3 pictures to demonstrate the perfect one.
Layout:
Trial Layouts
4th March 2019
I started out simply with a title, my logo and my article titles and text boxes. I did this because i had an image of what I wanted my DPS to look like. This was so I could fit the pieces together one at a time.

7th March 2019
I put my first image in which was of two medicine balls, I chose them because I felt its what fits quite well with stretching and they look bright and vibrant.
I also added a blue title above my 'stretch it out' I did this because it adds a playful vibe to the article and with the title just being grey, it looks boring and dull. This will make the reader feel like this article is more playful than serious.
28th March
I added my three pictures of my model Summer doing three different stretches, I added these because it relates to the style of DPS I was going for which is an informative guide. This will attract my target audience because it shows them how easy it is to do and might inspire them to give it a try.
I also added a quote by Arnold Schwarzenegger because I felt like an inspirational quote would get the audience inspired and motivated.
2nd April 2019
I finished my writing my article which was step by step tutorials on how to do the perfect stretch, I also added a little introduction to what stretching is and why it is important.
I touched up on spelling errors and moved bits and bobs around and now I have a finished product.
Evaluation:
My magazine was successful because I have created a magazine and double page spread based on the theme of fitness and lifestyle. I have done this by initially planning a layout for both and slowly developing it each week by slowly adding, moving, changing and improving pieces, I mostly did this so I can meet the criteria of a fitness magazine and to interest my target audience. My target audience for this magazine was males and females, between the ages of 18-30, the social class I was trying to interest was ABC1. I did this by using formal language through out the magazine, I also used fonts that give a serious but playful tone.
I really like my final products, I think most of it is really good, I think the best part of my production is the title for my article 'when in doubt, stretch it out!' I really like how it is a play on words and i really like the font I chose for it, the font was quite cartoonish and brought a playful feeling to the article. On my magazine front cover I used a lot of gender neutral colours through out, I used colours like light blues, whites, yellows and purples. I did this so it relates to my target audience which is males and females.
The ideas for my magazines were mostly all my ideas but I did get inspiration from other health magazines, for example the idea of my cover-lines being on the left side instead of the right side came from a health magazine I saw when I was designing my initial layout design. Another thing inspired on my magazine was the main image, I tired to recreate my filler photo as much as i can in my main image. I did this because I really liked the way that the filler image looked on the magazine, it just fit in really well.
I had two photoshoots, the first photoshoot was just photos of gym equipment I used these photos for my double page spread, the photos were okay but they didn't look great after they had been stretched and edited, this is because I took these photos on my phone. The second photoshoot was much better because I hired a camera out and used it to take photos of my models, these photos were much better quality and easier to access than the photos on my phone.
I bumped into problems which really knocked my timing for everything about, the main problem I had was finding the time around lessons to take photos of my models, I also had to wait for permission to photograph in the gym where the photos were took, if i had to do this again I would make photos and consent a high priority.
I used Photoshop to create everything, Photoshop is very useful because it gives you a variety of tools so you can create the perfect magazine, for example the selection tool was really useful because you could select anything and move it around freely and scale its size. I used a Gaussian blur on both my main images (FC and DPS). This blur really helped show of detail on my model and helped draw attention to my model. This would prove useful to the audience as well because they will focus on the model and not anything in the background. Photoshop can be hard to use at times because you do not know what half the tools really do but once you've mastered it Photoshop becomes very useful and it defiantly helped create a good front cover and double page spread.
